Grumpy, Name That Tune

I have a a fair amount of Grumpy Disneyana. The prize of my collection is an actual production drawing from Snow White by animator Bill Tytla. That will be spotlighted in the future.
.
(In "the business", we call that a "tease".)
.
This post is about this Grumpy Schmid musical figurine, from the 1990's.
.

.
.
What made me look at this more closely was a post by Lee from September 28th, 2011, entitled Grump Har-rumph! about a Schmid Grumpy figure in his collection.
As I've mentioned several times, what's so great about this blog, is it prompts me to re-examine my collection.
.
This Grumpy plays the song "Children's Marching Song".
..
What song is that?
.
I wind it up and hear what I know as "Knick, Knack, Paddy Whack". Also known as "This Old Man".
.
Who knew? Apparently it was adapted for the 1958 film "The Inn of the Sixth Happiness" by composer Malcom Arnold as "The Children's Marching Song", which led to hit singles for Cyril Stapleton and Mitch Miller.
.
Disleelandia: Like Epcot, it's edutainment!

  1. Hey Nick, great post! Lee must be teaching you right -- NOT! :)

Anyway, my wife is a huge Daisy Duck fan, and I got her a Daisy Duck Schmid piece that is nearly identical to yours with the wind up base at the bottom. One of the sources for some of my stuff is to Yardsellr, which I see on Facebook.

    Take care!
